General Rules

 

· The organising committee will accept no responsibility whatsoever for any loss, injury or damage to any person or their property, whilst on the Equestrian Centre premises, car parks or approaches.
· We strongly advise that all entrants should ensure that they, and their horses/ponies, are fully covered by 3rd party insurance.
· Correct dress must be worn at all events.
· Horses & ponies must be aged 4 years and older (except for in-hand showing classes)
· A hard hat to British Standard EN 1384 or PAS 015, with correctly fitted chinstrap must be worn at all times whilst mounted.
· Any horse, pony or rider acting in a dangerous manner may be asked to leave the premises. Excessive use of whips or spurs, foul language or cruelty will not be tolerated and may result in the offender being eliminated and asked to leave the premises.
· The organisers reserve the right to limit or refuse any entry if deemed necessary, without giving any reason.
· The organisers reserve the right to amalgamate or split classes and alter or amend the running order.
· The judges’ decision is final. Anyone deemed to be verbally or physically abusive, abusing or heckling the judges, stewards, competitors or spectators, may result in disqualification or expulsion from the premises.
· Prizes will be withheld if there are insufficient entries. Rosettes to 6th place.
· Prize ratio: 10-14 entries = 1st place only, 15 -20 entries = 1st & 2nd place, 20+ entries = 1st, 2nd & 3rd place.
· Concussion. In the event of concussion, which may occur without loss of consciousness, riders are not allowed to remount. An examination by a doctor is compulsory either at the event or following transfer to hospital.
· No-one shall allow a stallion for which he/she is responsible to compete, or be prepared to compete, in any competition without taking adequate precautions to ensure the safety of other riders and members of the public on the premises and should inform the organiser that a stallion is on the premises.
· Only horses / ponies that have entered a Class may use the practice arena.
· All dogs must be kept on a lead and under control at all times whilst on the premises.
· Please do NOT muck out horse boxes or trailers whilst on the premises.
· Please place litter in the bins provided whilst on the premises.
· HHEC may engage the use of a photographer at its events. By entering, you agree to HHEC using images (still & moving) of you and/ or your child/children for advertising, marketing & publicity purposes. Should you wish to withdraw your consent, please inform Trudy on trudy@hillhouseequestrian.com

Show Jumping Rules (additional to General Rules)

· Horse & rider combinations that enter Class 1 may not enter Classes 5 & 6
· Adults riding ponies will be placed into Pony category.

 

Dressage Rules (additional to General Rules)

· Tack & Equipment: Snaffle bridles must be worn for Intro, Prelim & Novice tests. No Mylers with hooks or bevel bits. Any rider found to be riding in these will be eliminated. Double bridles may be worn in Elementary tests. Only Cavesson, drop or flash nosebands may be worn with snaffle bridles, cavessons only may be worn with double bridles. Martingales, side or running reins and reins with elastic inserts are forbidden. Breast plates & breast girths are permitted. No boots or bandages may be worn during a test, but may be used while warming up.

· Dress Code: short jacket (black or blue) or tweed coat with correctly tied stock, white American Collar or shirt & tie. Hats & hat covers must be pre- dominately black or navy blue. Breeches/jodhpurs must be plain white, cream or beige. Boots must be black or brown, may be top boots or Jodhpur boots. Gaiters/half-chaps may be worn providing are of identical colour to boots.

· A whip must not be used in a way or be of a length that disturbs other riders and may not be picked up if dropped during a test. At no time may more than one whip be carried during a test or warming-up.

· Callers are allowed for the dressage.
